Electropolishing

Electropolishing on stainless steel is simply the controlled removal of metal and burrs from the surface of the material.

It helps to deburr machined edges and holes as well as removes any imbedded iron from the manufacturing process. The current is greatest on the outside edges and outside corners of parts, which are left especially smooth. The longer the process is applied, the greater the amount of metal that is removed: holes can be enlarged, threads can be rounded, and sharp edges can be smoothed.

Electropolishing also eliminates the need for mechanical metal finishing processes like hand deburring, tumbling, pickling, and cleaning.

Electropolishing is an economical choice when you require a smooth, shiny surface that is contaminant free.

At TMF we offer electropolishing to:

  • ASTM B912

Certificates of compliance are provided upon request.
